Apprenticeships
Apprenticeship is occupational training that combines on-the-job experience with classroom instruction. Industry and individual employers design and control the training programs, and pay apprentices’ wages.
There are 116 different occupations in Oregon that include apprenticeships to train workers. Each apprenticeship is an opportunity to earn money while learning new skills.
The person hired as an apprentice could be someone with a disability who needs specialized on-the-job training to obtain and keep employment.

The Assistive Technology MarketPlace contains previously owned assistive technology products and durable medical equipment. From here you can browse listings of products and equipment that are for sale. You can also submit an ad to sell your product or equipment.
Business Oregon
Business Oregon works to create, retain, expand and attract businesses that provide sustainable, living-wage jobs for Oregonians through public-private partnerships, leveraged funding and support of economic opportunities for Oregon companies and entrepreneurs.
Chamber of Commerce
The Oregon State Chamber of Commerce is an association of chambers of commerce. It is dedicated to preserving the competitive enterprise system of business by creating a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of a strong economy while contributing to the growth and professionalism of the industry.
Device Demonstration Centers
At Device Demonstration Centers, consumers with disabilities and their families can explore and evaluate various assistive technology options before making a purchasing decision about a particular piece of equipment.

Device Loan Library – Assistive Technology
A consumer with a disability or his/her family member can borrow assistive technology through the Device Loan Library to see if it meets the consumer’s needs before making a decision about obtaining that particular piece of equipment for the consumer. Also, if a consumer’s assistive technology is being repaired, a similar device can be borrowed from the library to be used while it is being fixed.
Employed Persons with Disabilities
The Employed Persons with Disabilities Program is designed to help people who have disabilities go to work. Often, a person who has a disability is hesitant to work because of the risk of losing Medicaid. The purpose of this program is to allow people who are disabled be gainfully employed and keep their Medicaid coverage as well.
Enterprise Zones
Oregon's enterprise zones offer a unique resource to Oregon communities, and an excellent opportunity for businesses growing or locating in Oregon. Primarily, enterprise zones exempt businesses from local property taxes on new investments for a specified amount of time, which varies among the different zone programs.
General Business Loans
The following websites contain general information on loans offered to Oregon businesses. These loans can be used to purchase ADA compliant property or Assistive Technology to make an employee with a disability more productive. Job creation, especially for people with disabilities, is another appropriate use of these loans.

Investment Advantage
With a multi-year income tax holiday, the Investment Advantage program helps businesses start or locate new operations in most Oregon counties. Companies setting up operations in an eligible county can be certified at least eight times to annually deduct or subtract taxable income related to those operations, potentially eliminating any state business income tax liability for that period, which begins at least 24 months after the commencement of new operations.
One of the certification requirements is that a company must create of at least five new full-time, year-round jobs that receive minimum level of compensation. Some of the jobs created to fulfill this requirement could be occupied by workers with disabilities.

Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center
A Microsoft Accessibility Resource Center provides expert consultation on assistive technology and accessibility features built into Microsoft products. Their specialists understand how disabilities impact computer users and are trained to evaluate the needs of the person with the disability. Some centers offer computer training and many organizations have lending libraries, so a consumer can try a product before purchasing it.
Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS) – Employers Services
Vocational Rehabilitation is a free service to both employer and employee. Businesses are provided pre-screened, ready-to-work applicants with a wide range of skills and abilities from around the state. Vocational Rehabilitation Staffing solutions can help an employer access a variety of work incentive programs that can save a company money.
Furthermore, workers with disabilities are strongly motivated to perform. Studies show that workers with disabilities have lower-than-average on-the-job accident rates and higher-than-average attendance and length of service rates.

Oregon Industrial Development Bonds and Oregon Express Bond Program
Oregon Industrial Development Bonds are tax-exempt bonds issued by the state of Oregon, designed to help Oregon manufacturers grow. They provide long-term financing for land, buildings and equipment.
Manufacturers located in Oregon can use the proceeds from these programs to purchase a building that is ADA compliant, so more workers with disabilities can be employed at their facility.

The Oregon Low Income Community Jobs Initiative Oregon New Markets Tax Credit program:
