America's Heroes Deserve To Work!

America's Heroes at Work, a Department of Labor Initiative, helps businesses recruit and hire veterans who are ready to work despite injuries that resulted in either traumatic brain injury or post traumatic stress disorder.

To make the transition from the battle field to the workplace easier for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. Department of Labor, in collaboration with other employment and disability oriented agencies, has a new initiative called America’s Heroes at Work. This project focuses on the employment challenges faced by returning veterans who have Traumatic Brain Injuries and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

America’s Heroes at Work uses information and tools available to employers to educate them about employing vets with these types of disabilities. These resources will help employers understand the mental health issues facing vets and alleviate fears about hiring them. Employers will learn that with the proper workplace accommodations, veterans can be productive, valuable employees.

Additionally, America’s Heroes at Work’s website offers employers resources on how to recruit, hire and retain veterans.
