I just read a few peoples letters and was stunned. Not in a bad way but when the word Vocational Rehabilitation I want to hurl. I will tell you why first I live in Georgia. All the people that have been helped where not from this state. My question is does anybody out there know that if your from Georgia and go to Rehab Services if you don't kiss the ground they walk on and say you want to do what you what to do and it has nothing to do with there agenda! They put me personally through heck and back because I thought for myself and knew what I was capable to do and wanted to do. This is my experience only I cannot speak for anyone else. There job was to make sure I didn't get what I wanted maybe because they kept telling me this we can't do and that we can't do so I armed myself with all the information to prove them wrong! I know there manual inside and out. This is not acceptable in Georgia we are stupid people that cannot make decisions for themselves that's there job. I fought a serveral year battle with them until they finally had CAPS that would have defended me lie and would not help me. So they set up a mock trial and had a 3 foot high papers and everytime they tried to make me look like a person who could never hold down a job I took out my stuff and showed everthing they had tried was a sham. I am a proud man and no man has try to pull crap like this because if you are lying I will prove it. If I had 1% doubt I would not pursue. They took a once proud and happy man and broke me because they got everbody involved to lie even a very nice disabled man that worked there and made him do something he thought he would never have to do. This man had a wife and kids I forgave him in a second. To do that to that proud man was evil. disabled people have a hard enough time to get a real job to support their families, and his job was on the line. Disabled and wonderful kids and wife he did the only thing he could do. So is there such a thing as Rehab services in other states that do what they are suppose to? There has to be please help me stop the handful of people in Georgia that are treating us like were stupid. Power is in the people people not in the goverment. Without us there is no them.

I recently quit a job after four months of employment because the company lied to me about the duties I was hired to do. In the time that I was employed at this company 8 other people quit. This is a small company and for that many people to leave in that short of time seems very excessive. What I would like to know is the company taking advantage of any tax laws by hiring people then making false promises to them so they would quit. My personal opinion is the company is taking advantage of the system. Could someone please call me concerning this matter.618-660-5429 anytime. Thanks.

Thanks for contacting me. I am currently working with the Illinois Dept. of Vocational Rehabilitation. So far I've submitted a resume for them to send to Government Agenices who are hiring people with disabilities. I've not had much luck with that, but I'm always interested in finding some kind of work that I can do with my disability.

My name is Phil, and in 1999 I became paralyzed from the chest down due to falling off a ladder while pruning a tree. After my accident, I was determined to go back to work. I knew I wasn't going to give up; instead, I found programs to help me pursue my career in the environmental field. Through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), I received my first wheelchair, laptop, and camera to begin my consulting business. Now, 10 years later, I'm still working and doing what I love outdoors- designing ADA hiking trails and leading hikes for people with disabilities. Instead of focusing your energy on all of the things that you "CAN'T DO", get excited about all of wonderful things that you "CAN DO". Thank you,
Sincerely,
Phil McGrath
